About > Working Groups > Health

The JEC Health Group aims to assist the JEC in raising the profile of epilepsy and campaigning for improvements in respect of all epilepsy-related issues by providing considered input on health issues to the JEC Executive Committee.
The group meets approximately three times a year, chaired by Emma Williams of Matthew's Friend.
Current group members are:
Peter Scott, Epilepsy Action
Anissa Tonberg, Epilepsy Scotland
Esther Whitten, ESNA
Fiona Kettell, Epilepsy Wales
Emma Williams, Matthew's Friend
Alison Cornell, NCYPE
Amanda Cleaver, Epilepsy Society
Gerard Gahagan, Quarriers
Sally Gomersall, JEC Exec
Sam Whitmore, Epilepsy Connections
Appointments are within the discretion of the JEC Executive but normally will ensure that all organisations whose role involves day-to-day development of health policy in all four countries with the UK and Ireland who seek membership of the group are represented and that there is some clinical input.
The role of the health group is to facilitate the work of the JEC and not to promote the views of their individual organisations. There is an expectation that members should take an active role to increase the effectiveness of join working and the aim at all times is to reach consensus on key decisions.
